It’s been one of those days . . . grey and drizzly outside; half of the brilliantly colored autumn leaves have already fallen, leaving the ones left on the trees looking a bit sad and lonely; no particular motivation to get out of the house.  So we putter, and I’m working on craft projects and [...]

Another day, another half-assed attempt to post before midnight so as to meet my deadline.  THIS is why I’ve never managed to keep a journal for any significant length of time, despite dozens of attempts.
But who cares, when you have THIS sitting on your kitchen counter?  Ahhhh, Frost doughnuts, I love you so . . .

Great green goddess, I am TIRED. Bone-deep, bleary-eyed, can-barely-move tired. So tired that I’m writing this post on my phone not because it is easier or more convenient to type and edit (it’s not), but because the effort of removing the laptop from its bag in the other room sounds too difficult. I sit in [...]

Because the first post from today was REALLY meant to be a post from yesterday, see?
Today was . . . interesting.  Last night the big monkey did a sleepover at Grandma’s house downstairs (and I use the term “sleepover” verrrrrry loosely, because not much sleeping got done), and today she was T.I.R.E.D.  Which led to [...]

The Good: I got my application to be an API Group Leader completely finished and the last assignment turned in this afternoon. It is Ilze’s namesday, and Valdis (despite being sick) made her a beautiful pineapple upside-down cake from scratch.
The Bad: My grandfather died this afternoon
RIP, Grandpa–you will be dearly missed. You helped [...]

Or at least try to care less.
When we first moved into this house, the monkey was only crawling — which made it much easier to arrange the furniture in a baby-safe configuration. We’re not particularly fastidious about the babyproofing — for instance, when the monkey started getting into the bottom drawers in the kitchen, [...]

And it kicked our collective asses.
This weekend started early, on Friday–V took a day off of work so that we could spend all day driving around town, moving appliances and furniture and taking stuff to the dump. Hooray for heavy lifting!
[Really, it started LAST weekend, when we spent all of Saturday overhauling the garage. [...]
