Ilze packed up her crayons, all the while chirping “Seeya dinner!”; then, heading down the stairs with her briefcase, we heard her say “Have fun!”.
Then suddenly, from halfway down the stairs . . .
“O God! Keys! O God!”
She scrambled back up the stairs and started spinning around staring at the floor.
“Keys! Keys go?”

On the morning of my grandfather’s funeral, I got the monkey dressed in lots of purple — purple dress, purple legwarmers, purple shoes. After her shoes were buckled I stood back and said “Ilze, you are too cute. Can you say ‘too cute’?”
